Wow, where did 2017 go? It has been full of wonderful experiences and challenges that have reminded me of what is meaningful in my life. Perhaps that is what this journey called life is all about? This time of year when the days are short, dark and damp here on the mountain I can’t help but be introspective. What have I accomplished in the last year? What have I learned and where have I grown? What do I anticipate 2018 will have in store for me?
This year I became President of IM4US. With this new title has come many opportunities for growth particularly as a leader. I have been challenged to hone my skills as an administrator to develop policies, procedures and processes for our rapidly growing organization. At the same time it has been such an extraordinary privilege to represent an organization who’s mission is to support integrative providers who care for the underserved. Our annual conference in August was a tremendous success and has brought renewed interest and enthusiasm to the work we are doing. We are bringing on talented new board members and focusing on the development of a strategic plan that will make our organization sustainable. We are being thoughtful about doing the work with our board and organizational infrastructure that is needed to be inclusive and respectful of our diverse IM4US community. This critical work is central to our mission and will require ongoing attention.
Some of my personal accomplishments during 2017 include:
- Passing my board certification as a Health & Wellness Coach
- Becoming President of IM4US
- Learning to knit and making a cardigan!
- Accepting my identity as a cancer survivor and letting go of some of the fear
- Connecting more with my neighbors and community
- Enjoying singing with our local choir
What have you accomplished in 2017 and what will 2018 bring for you?
I send my best wishes for a loving and healthful holiday season!
